I want to know Jesus Christ as my personal Savior, what do I need to do?
Before we answer that question there is another question we need to ask; Why do you need a Savior?
The reason you need a savior is because you are a sinner (we all are), and the price of our sin is death and eternal separation from God. But God loves is so much that He sent His only Son to die for our sin. Jesus Christ, bore the penalty and paid the price on the cross and God raised him from the dead three days later. So it is Christ’s perfect Righteousness we need to save us from the debt caused by sin we cannot pay. That is why we need a savior, we cannot save ourselves.
Scripture is very clear on this.
For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23).
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God in eternal like in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23).
But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ does for us. (Romans 5:8).
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9).
So, to answer the question, “I want to know Jesus Christ as my personal Savior, what do I need to do”?
Pray to God and acknowledge that you are a sinner and place all your trust in the work and reliability of what Jesus Christ has done for you, and you will be saved.
Almighty God,
I have sinned against you and know that my sin deserves eternal punishment and death. But I know that Jesus Christ, your only Son, paid the price for my sin. He lived a perfect life and did not sin. He died an atoning death, and rose from the dead in three days. It is His righteousness I want in my life. Now, according to the promises in your Holy Scripture, I know that I am saved and you have adopted me as a child of God. Not because of anything that I have done but because of Jesus’ work on the cross and resurrection. Thank you for my new life and I pray you lead people into my life to help me to grow in righteousness and godliness.
In Jesus’ name, Amen
